Advancing Solar Cells
with Innovative Manufacturing
Ebon Solar makes solar cells, a crucial late-stage component of the solar panel manufacturing process. When fitted into a larger solar module, solar cells capture and convert the sun’s energy into electricity through a polysilicon-based semiconductor material.
Our technology involves crucial innovations in the fundamental manufacturing processes of solar cells, significantly enhancing their energy conversion efficiency and surpassing traditional solar technologies.
Why Choose Ebon?
Ebon is a trailblazer for chip technology and innovation in the solar cell industry. Our expertise in ASIC chip design and production paves the way for advancements in the solar energy sector, as both semiconductors and solar cell manufacturing are derived from a silicon base and as such have substantial overlap in the early stages of manufacturing. With our experience and expertise, we are well-prepared to establish and construct state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing facilities in New Mexico, an emerging center for the U.S. solar technology industry.

Our Foundation In ASIC
Chip Design

What are ASIC chips? Integrated circuits carved into a
semiconductor material (typically polysilicon), with the
chips designed and carved for their specific function.

We create solar cells

What are solar cells? Solar cells are sophisticated semiconductor devices that capture sunlight and convert it into electricity.
And the way we create them is unique and efficient. We rely on our resources and expertise in ASIC chips to increase production and drive efficiencies, outperforming the existing traditional solar cell technology.
How we do it
Our team boasts more than a decade of experience in crafting
efficient and reliable application-specific integrated circuit
(ASIC) chips. This paves the way for our leadership in the solar
energy sector. Our experience in semiconductors relies on
similar silicon resources and processes as those used to
manufacture advanced solar cells.

process

Early Stages in ASIC
Chips and Solar
Cells Manufacturing

At the early stages, the manufacturing process for ASIC chips and solar cells are quite similar. Both are silicon-based, with post-extraction silicon being refined for purity, then molded into a cylindrical ingot, which is then sliced into thin wafers. These wafers are the base of both ASIC chips and solar cells.

Silicon Wafers to
ASIC Chips and
Solar Cells

The raw silicon wafers are then used in two distinct paths. They can either be processed into silicon wafers specific for semiconductor applications—such as those typically used in the fabrication of the ASIC chips integral to creating high-performance computing hardware—or tailored to solar applications. The wafers become ASIC chips when they are carved into an integrated circuit meant to maximize efficiency in high-energy complex computing tasks.

ASIC Expertise:
Advancing Solar
Technology Efficiency

Ebon’s decade of experience designing efficient ASIC chips has translated well to the design of solar cells, giving us an edge in pushing the horizon of solar technology. Our advanced chip technology significantly boosts the energy conversion efficiency of solar cells, outperforming traditional solar technologies. This high efficiency is crucial for both reducing the cost per watt of solar power and improving the performance of photovoltaic installations.
